Congratulations Gabby Douglas!
Yesterday on my flight from LA to MIA I was able to watch a few of the events for the Olympics. Luckily one of those events was the women’s all-around gymnastics competition. I witnessed USA Women’s Gymnastics Team member Gabby Douglas win the Gold medal for individual all-around gymnastics. The 16 year old is the first ever African-American to receive this great honor. Earlier in the week the USA Women’s Gymnastics Team also took home the Gold medal as a team. Two wins for Gabby! Hard work and dedication does may off. #ProudToBeAnAmerican
Dsquared² - The Substitues
Check out this video featuring new looks from two of my favorite designers Dean and Dan of Dsquared². Everyone seems to be having a really amazing time in great looking clothes! Don’t you wish this is what happened when you had substitute teachers in grade school? #swerve
The other day I decided to take a stroller around my neighborhood and half way down the block one of my neighbors was having a yard sale so I decided to stop and do a little browsing. My neighbor was very friendly and after a few minutes we started chatting. I asked her why she was having a garage said and she told me she needed to get rid of stuff because she was moving to Virginia. In my mind I was thinking why leave the beautiful state of California? She must have read my thoughts because she proceeded to tell me she was moving to an eco village where some of her friends lived. Eco Village? I had never heard this term before and after our encounter I decided to go home and do some research.
So basically an Eco Village is a community where individuals live together and share “eco friendly living habits.” Usually they use alternative energy sources, grown their own food, share similar “eco values” and ultimately strive to live more sustainable lifestyles. Community members make an effort to live “well and lighter together.” Altogether I thought this was an interesting concept: People working together to preserve our planet for future generations (that’s my summary of it). You learn something new every day right?
This website is packed with info if you want to learn more about Eco Villages.
